Chinese cuisine has prevailed as one of the most loving and favorite cuisines of the entire world. Chinese dishes have varied color can usually greatly stimulate people’s appetite as it has everything color, taste and fragrance it prominence is on fresh, seasonal ingredients, prepared with a minimum of hassle and beautifully balanced of texture and appearance. Moreover, it has altered its avatar with each continent and blended with different food cultures around the world like American- Chinese food, Indian-Chinese food.
One of the easiest though tastiest noodles are Chow Mein very near to heart of American-Chinese food lovers, it is very special customary fry noodles in Cantonese dialect style with vegetable of your choice or even non-veg lovers can tweak it with meat , chicken of even seafood along with steam fried or pan fry noodles available in supermarket . So let us start preparing this mouthwatering and colorful dish.
Prep Time: 10 to 15 Mins
Cook Time: 5 to 10 Mins
- 250 grams of Chow Mein noodles (Steam will be preferred)
- 60 to 75 grams of pork or beef (Small pieces)
- 4 to 5 shrimp (shelled and deveined)
- 3 garlic cloves (chopped finely)
- 1/2 cup cabbage (shredded)
- 1 medium size onion (optional)
- 1/4 cup carrot (shredded)
- 1 tsp. Soy sauce & dark soya sauce
- 1 tsp. oyster sauce
- 1/2 tsp. Sugar if adding
- Water as per need
- 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 2 bunch of scallions (cut into medium size length)
- Salt as per taste
To start with soak steamed Chow Mein in cold water in large bowl for around 5 minutes then take out and rinse well, make sure you are taking out the excess water and set aside. Please do not soak it more than 5 minutes as they are already steamed they might become mushy and soggy.
Take a small bowl and mix all seasoning ingredients well and keep it aside
Now take a deep pan and add some cooking oil now start adding chopped garlic and stir until it turns light brown and leaves aroma.
Now add pieces of meat and shrimp and stir fry them and cooked at least 50% Now it’s time to add your favorite vegetables, shredded cabbage and carrot etc. into the pan, do not overcook as you need them crunchy and crispy
Once veggies are crispy add noodles, the seasoning mixture, and water around 2 tsp. Start blending entire mixture until noodles, veggies, and seasoning blended properly.
Add the chopped scallions to garnish, stir it, take a serving bowl and serve hot.
