Brown Butter & Spice Nature's Pride Bread Sticks with Dark Chocolate Ganache


As part of my sponsor Foodbuzz's Tastemaker Program, I elected to receive a coupon for a free package of Natures Pride Bread. But, my impatience got to me so I went and purchased a loaf. And I'm glad I did. And once the coupon arrives, I'll most definitely use it. Free goods are always welcome in my house. Especially if its in the form of food. teehee.

Amongst the different varieties of wonderfully tasting bread, I chose the Healthy Multigrain Bread. With this hearty tasting bread, I wanted to create a simple recipe using the bread as a dessert. I love desserts, who doesn't. And with Fall upon us, I wanted to use spices that reminds us of pumpkins and cinnamon. My house still has a lovely fragrant aroma of pumpkin spice and cinnamon.

And of course I had to implement dark chocolate in some way. Anything with dark chocolate is a winner in my opinion. A healthy bread soaked in a spiced brown butter, baked and slathered with dark chocolate. YES please! Its the perfect trade off. Don't you think?

Ingredients
2-3 Slices of Natures Price Healthy Multigrain Bread or Bread of your Choice
4 tbsp Brown Butter
2-3 tbsp Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Pumpkin Spice
1/4 tsp Nutmeg
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Salt

Dark Chocolate Ganache
1 Cup Bittersweet Ghirardelli Chips (Bittersweet is the same as Dark Chocolate)
1/4 Cup Heavy Cream

Directions
1. Heat a pan over medium heat to make the browned butter. I recommend using a stainless steel pan so that you can keep an eye on the butter. I used my cast iron skillet, I think it gives off a better flavor. Place the sliced butter in the pan and whisk constantly until butter turns a golden color. Click here for detailed explanation on how to make brown butter. Preheat oven to 375º degrees.


2. Lower heat to low and add the brown sugar, cinnamon, pumpkin spice and nutmeg and whisk until well blended. Turn off heat. Place the bread and allow to soak up the buttery goodness. Flip bread over and using a spoon spread the spiced butter evenly on both sides.


3. Place the bread on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and bake for 10 minutes. Then flip the bread over and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Allow the bread to cool and cut into strips.


4. Prepare the dark chocolate ganache. I made a make shift double boiler using a medium pot filled with water, a steamer basket and a metal bowl. Melt the dark chocolate chips over medium heat, stirring until completely melted. Add the heavy cream and stir well. Allow to cool. Then spread the ganache onto the bread sticks and allow to sit so the chocolate hardens a bit.



These delicious ganache dipped spiced breadsticks are extremely flavorful with an added bit of crunch. The spices gives this unique dessert a nice flavor and the brown butter is definitely a great addition. I'm really enjoying this recipe and I hope you will too.     I saw this challenge...but had no idea where to go with it. You are obviously so much more creative than me! Kudos to taking a simple loaf of bread and turning it into something beautiful! Chocolate always helps make things like this possible!

    Lisa, that's so adorable that you couldn't wait for the coupon! Great idea drenching the bread with chocolate. Maybe more people will like multigrain bread that way! Personally i love the earthiness of multigrain bread but some people hate it.

    what a great idea, I never would have thought of that! Those sticks look incredible too, I bet the aroma was heavenly!! I love grain bread, but my wife is a white bread girl....sigh..have to get my fill at school!

    OMG, you're so creative Lisa! I got a coupon but couldn't find ones in a neighbor. Seriously, I went to 3 or 4 stores and none of them carrying Nature's Pride, so I gave up and bought different brand.

    These bread sticks are definitely my cup of tea!
